Sherwood Community Center Rental Rates

The Village publishes straightforward daily pricing. Unlike many recreation centers that charge separately by the hour, this building uses a daily rental rate.

FeePublished amount
Resident rental fee$100 per day
Resident security deposit$150
Initial payment including deposit$250
Rental window7:00 AM–12:00 AM (midnight)
Late key return$10 per day deducted from deposit
Example: For an approved one-day resident rental, plan for $250 upfront: $100 rental fee plus $150 deposit. If the building is cleaned, undamaged, and the key returned on time, the $150 deposit may be refunded, leaving a net rental cost of $100.

The Village states that deposit refunds can take two weeks or longer and are returned by check to the named applicant.

Cancellation: The reservation form says the security deposit is fully refundable if the reservation is canceled at least 30 days before the event. The rental fee is nontransferable to another date or time after payment. Ask the Village how any applicable fee refund is handled before canceling.

Facility Capacity, Kitchen & Available Equipment

140 Guests

Published maximum capacity. Actual comfortable seating depends on the room layout and event setup.

Dining Area

Approximately 10 folding tables, one large 12-foot table and around 100 folding chairs.

Kitchenette

Oven, microwave, refrigerator and sink for approved food preparation and serving.

Buffet Bar

A designated bar-style serving area useful for buffet food and refreshments.

Restrooms

Indoor restroom facilities. Renters must clean these after the event.

Nearby Outdoor Area

Legion Park Pavilion and outdoor park amenities are nearby but require separate arrangements.

Equipment limitation: The official rental rules state that supplies belonging to the Calumet County Aging Unit cannot be used by the general public. Do not assume every item in the kitchen cupboards is available.

If your group needs seating for more than the approximately 100 provided chairs, ask whether additional chairs are permitted and whether your setup remains within the approved 140-person capacity.

Kitchen, Food & Decoration Rules

Rental guests can use the approved kitchen facilities, but the Village has specific restrictions designed to protect the building and equipment.

Permitted With Care

  • Using the oven, microwave, refrigerator and sink.
  • Serving buffet-style food from the bar area.
  • Decorating with fireproof materials.
  • Attaching decorations using masking tape.

  • Confetti or confetti-type decorations.
  • Smoking inside the facility.
  • Using supplies owned by the Calumet County Aging Unit.

Practical catering tip: Ask your caterer how many appliances need electricity. The Village specifically warns renters about overloading the power source in the bar area.

How to Reserve Sherwood Community Center

You do not need to search through multiple websites to understand the booking process. The Village offers a fillable application and accepts it by email or at Village Hall.

  1. Confirm resident eligibility. Community Center rentals are restricted to Village residents. Have your address ready for staff to verify.
  2. Select your date. Check the official Community Center reservation calendar to avoid requesting an already-booked day.
  3. Prepare event information. You will need your name, address, phone number, event purpose, requested date and time.
  4. Complete the reservation form. Use the Village’s fillable Community Center Reservation Application.
  5. Submit the application. Email it to deputyclerk@sherwoodwi.gov or deliver it to Village Hall.
  6. Pay the required deposit. The $150 deposit is due with the application. The Village accepts applicable online credit/debit payments or payments at Village Hall.
  7. Wait for approval. The Village reserves the right to accept or deny requests. Do not treat an inquiry alone as a confirmed booking.
  8. Arrange key collection. Coordinate with the Village office. Key collection may be available up to two business days before your event.
  9. Use the reserved date only. Building access begins no earlier than 7 AM on the approved reservation date.
  10. Clean and return the key. Complete cleanup the same day and return the key by the first business day after the event.
