Accessibility Statement
Our accessibility statement explains website usability goals and physical facility access verification reminders.
Accessibility Statement
community-center.org/ aims to make community center information readable, mobile-friendly, and easier to navigate for visitors with different devices, abilities, and research needs. Accessibility is an ongoing improvement process.
Website Accessibility Goals
- Use clear page titles and descriptive section headings.
- Keep paragraphs readable and easy to scan.
- Use mobile-responsive layouts for phones and tablets.
- Use descriptive link text when possible.
- Make tables readable on smaller screens.
- Avoid confusing design elements that hide important safety or verification notes.
- Explain community center terms in plain language.
External Accessibility Limits
Community centers, city pages, registration systems, PDF program guides, map providers, and booking platforms may be controlled by third parties. We cannot fix accessibility problems on external websites, but we can improve our own linking, labels, and explanations when issues are reported.
Accessibility and Real-World Facility Access
Website accessibility is different from physical facility accessibility. A community center may have ramps, elevators, accessible parking, accessible restrooms, hearing assistance, language services, or accommodation procedures, but those details must be verified with the official center before visiting.
| Need | Ask the Official Center | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Wheelchair access | Which entrance is accessible? Is elevator access available? | Maps may not show the correct accessible entrance. |
| Program accommodation | How do I request an accommodation before the event? | Advance notice may be required. |
| Language access | Is interpretation or translated material available? | Support varies by program and operator. |
| Senior or youth support | Are staff, forms, pickup rules, or assistance options available? | Rules may vary by age group and program. |
