How to Book a Community Center Room

The City accepts applications up to one year in advance. Submit a reservation application at least 10 business days before the requested date, although popular dates should be arranged much earlier.

  1. Identify the room. Choose Redwood Hall, a meeting room or a permitted dance/fitness studio.
  2. Determine guest count. Use the actual event layout to check capacity.
  3. Select your preferred dates. Include one or two alternatives and identify peak versus off-peak pricing.
  4. Check availability. Contact RecReservations@MountainView.gov or call 650-903-6407.
  5. Open the City’s Community Center rental page. Find the Rental Documents section and obtain the current application.
  6. Complete the application. Provide contact details, applicant status, room, event type, dates, attendance and required services.
  7. Submit the form. Email it to the reservations office or deliver it at 201 S. Rengstorff Avenue during Recreation Division office hours.
  8. Pay the initial charges. Security deposit and applicable insurance and janitorial charges are generally due when the reservation is made.
  9. Pay the remaining rental fee. The City generally requires the remaining balance 30 days before the event. For bookings made within 30 days, full payment may be due immediately.
  10. Save the permit. Confirm room access, approved times, rules, equipment and cleanup obligations before notifying guests.
A date is not held by inquiry alone. The City says it cannot hold a rental date without an application and initial payment. Do not assume a verbal availability check secures the room.

Classes, Camps & Recreation Registration

Mountain View Recreation Division offers rotating classes and programs for children, teenagers, adults and older residents. Activities may include arts, dance, fitness, language, sports and seasonal camps.

Not every listed recreation class takes place inside the Community Center. Some are offered at parks, pools, other City facilities or partner locations.

How to Register for Classes

  1. Open the official City class registration page.
  2. Select online registration to reach Mountain View ActiveNet.
  3. Create an account or sign in, then search by activity, age or program name.
  4. Open the class listing and check dates, fees, instructor, age requirements and exact location.
  5. Add the eligible participant and complete the online registration.
  6. Save your receipt and confirm the first meeting date.

The City also accepts registration forms by email at Recreation@MountainView.gov or in person at the Community Center counter.

Withdrawal & Financial Assistance

  • Transfer or withdrawal requests must generally be submitted at least seven days before the class begins.
  • The City lists a $5 processing fee per class, camp or activity for transfers, withdrawals and refunds.
  • Missed classes do not normally qualify for prorated credit or refund.
  • Financial assistance may be available for eligible low-income Mountain View families registering children for recreation activities.
Registration dates change by season. The City’s activity guides cover winter, spring/summer and fall sessions. Check the latest guide instead of relying on old class fees or enrollment deadlines.

Rengstorff Park: Playground & Outdoor Activities

The Community Center is at the north end of Rengstorff Park. Visitors can combine a scheduled recreation activity with a visit to public park space, depending on weather and the operating rules of each area.

  • Playground: accessible from the surrounding park area; follow current maintenance notices.
  • Open space: grass and landscaped areas for ordinary park recreation.
  • Walking: surrounding park paths and open spaces.
  • Aquatic Center: a separate complex with its own swimming admission, schedule and rules.
  • Reserved activities: organized sports or private gatherings may need City permission or a separate reservation.

Rengstorff Park, the Community Center and its Aquatics Center share the broader recreation area but should not be treated as a single admission-based building.

Rengstorff Park Aquatics Center: Pool Information

Rengstorff Park Aquatics Center is at 2073 Crisanto Avenue, Mountain View, CA 94040, near the Community Center. Its direct number is 650-903-6351.

The City’s January–March 2026 guide listed adult lap-swim day passes at $6 for residents and $7.50 for nonresidents, with separate multivisit options. These are seasonal published rates, not guaranteed current prices.
