The City identifies holiday closures and reduced-hour periods throughout the year. These can include Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, plus modified schedules around other holidays.

Winter weather may also affect recreation operations. For a visit during snow, ice, a holiday or a special event, check the City’s current notice before traveling.

Conflicting official information: An older City FAQ lists longer Friday and Saturday hours. The main Community Center page currently lists Friday closing at 6 PM and Saturday at 5 PM. This guide follows the main facility page, but visitors should call when timing is important.

Members receive access to fitness equipment, open gym and locker room facilities, along with towel service. Annual fitness memberships also include certain guest or class passes.

For a comparison with another Missouri public recreation facility that offers memberships, fitness areas, indoor pools and event spaces, read our Gladstone Community Center admission and amenity guide. Its rates are separate from Sunset Hills.

Is a Day Pass or Membership Better?

The best choice depends on visit frequency, residency and whether you need scheduled exercise classes.

One-Time Visit

Start with a daily admission pass. A nonresident adult pays $10, while a Sunset Hills resident adult pays $8.

Occasional Fitness Visits

Compare the monthly membership with the number of day passes you would otherwise purchase.

Frequent Gym Users

Annual fitness memberships may be a more economical option for regular users, assuming the included facilities suit their needs.

Example: Resident Adult

UsageEstimated Cost
One daily visit$8
Four daily visits$32
Monthly membership$25
Annual membership$250

For four visits within one month, a $25 monthly adult resident membership is cheaper than paying four separate $8 admissions, assuming the same access and no additional fees.

Before purchasing: Ask whether monthly plans renew automatically, what proof of residence is accepted, how to cancel and whether your preferred classes cost extra.

SilverSneakers & Senior Fitness Benefits

Eligible members may receive access to the fitness center and other regular membership benefits without paying the standard fitness membership fee.

How to Check Eligibility

  1. Locate your Medicare or health plan member ID card.
  2. Call the customer service number printed on the card.
  3. Ask whether your plan includes SilverSneakers.
  4. Confirm that Sunset Hills Community Center is participating under your specific plan.
  5. Call the center to ask what identification or membership documentation is needed.
Important: Medicare enrollment alone does not guarantee SilverSneakers eligibility. Participation depends on the benefits of your particular plan.

If you are comparing facilities that offer rentable gymnasiums, event halls and community activities, our Jupiter Community Center room and event-planning guide provides a useful example of a different municipal rental system. Its policies do not apply in Missouri.

How to Book a Meeting Room

  1. Choose your event type. Decide whether you need a meeting, workshop, banquet, party or another approved gathering.
  2. Estimate attendance. Include guests, organizers and any staff who will occupy the room.
  3. Pick the layout. Theatre, conference, classroom and banquet arrangements have different capacities.
  4. Select a date. Prepare your first choice and at least one alternative.
  5. Call the front desk. Dial 314-842-7265 to confirm room availability.
  6. Confirm the total price. Ask whether resident rates apply and whether the event requires additional approvals.

Who to Contact

Sports and birthday party rentals: Ask for Eric Hillgren at 314-842-7265 or email ehillgren@sunset-hills.com.

Fundraisers and special events: Contact blogel@sunset-hills.com.

Birthday planning: If your party includes pizza, cake or refreshments, discuss renting an additional meeting room because the gymnasium itself does not permit food and drink during sporting birthday parties.

Outdoor Aquatic Facility: Separate Location & Fees

Sunset Hills operates a separate outdoor aquatic facility at 12512 W. Watson Road, Sunset Hills, MO.

The aquatic center is not the same building as Sunset Hills Community Center on South Lindbergh Boulevard.

Published Daily Aquatic Admission

VisitorResidentNonresident
Adult$10$11
Child / Senior$8$11

The City lists open swim from noon to 7 PM during the applicable aquatic season, subject to weather, operating dates and facility updates.

Resident ID Card

Sunset Hills residents must obtain a free resident ID card from the Community Center at 3915 S. Lindbergh Boulevard before visiting the outdoor aquatic facility for resident daily admission.

Nonresidents paying daily admission are not required to obtain that card under the published aquatic policy.

Important Membership Difference

  • Ordinary Community Center fitness membership focuses on gym, fitness and related membership benefits.
  • Outdoor aquatic memberships are seasonal and priced separately.
  • The Gold Package combines a Community Center annual fitness membership with one outdoor aquatic season.
  • Individual annual membership guest or aquatic passes do not necessarily provide unlimited pool access.
Seasonal distinction: The outdoor aquatic facility’s operating season and swimming schedule are different from the year-round Community Center hours. Do not assume the pool is open during your visit without checking the current season notice.

How to Become a Community Center Member

  1. Choose your membership category. Compare resident, nonresident, senior, child, family or qualifying business rates.
  2. Decide between monthly and annual. Compare total cost based on expected usage.
  3. Check your residency qualification. Ask which photo identification or proof of address is accepted.
  4. Review family requirements. If applying for a family plan, confirm household composition and additional-member charges.
  5. Obtain the application. Open the City’s membership page and use its published Community Center Membership Application.
  6. Complete the form. Provide the required contact, membership and payment details.
  7. Submit through the accepted process. Ask whether the membership can be finalized online or must be completed at the front desk.
  8. Confirm activation. Ask about access cards, expiration, renewals, cancellation and included facilities.
