Norpoint Community Center Hours: Updated July 2026

Parks Tacoma changed its community center operating hours effective July 1, 2026. This newer schedule replaces older PDFs and directory listings that may still show Sunday access.

DayCurrent Operating Hours
Monday5:30 AM–8 PM
Tuesday5:30 AM–8 PM
Wednesday5:30 AM–8 PM
Thursday5:30 AM–8 PM
Friday5:30 AM–7 PM
Saturday8 AM–2 PM
SundayClosed
Important 2026 change: Norpoint is no longer open for regular Sunday recreation. The swimming pool, adult spa and other recreational amenities are also closed to ordinary Sunday visitors.

Pool hours, fitness classes and drop-in sports can end before the building closes. Holiday schedules, tournaments, private rentals and maintenance can also affect access.

The center’s annual maintenance closure took place September 21–27, 2026. This scheduled closure has passed, but future maintenance and holiday notices still need to be checked before visiting.

Admission & Membership Fees: 2026 Rates

Parks Tacoma introduced its updated Center Pass prices on January 1, 2026. Prices depend on age and whether your home address is inside the park district.

Visitor CategoryIn-District MonthlyOut-of-District Monthly
Adult, ages 19–59$35$45
Senior, age 60+$26$34
Youth, ages 0–18FreeFree

Single Visit

$10 adult daily admission. Day-pass pricing is the same for adults and seniors. Youth age 18 and under qualify for free access.

Monthly Center Pass

Provides qualifying entry to all four Parks Tacoma community centers without an additional daily entrance charge. Specialty activities may cost extra.

In-district pricing is not simply a Tacoma mailing address

Parks Tacoma explains that eligibility depends on whether your property lies within its park district boundaries. These boundaries are not identical to Tacoma city boundaries. If unsure, check your property details through the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer.

What a Center Pass does not automatically include

  • Paid private or small-group specialty classes.
  • Optional Gherkins pickleball club memberships.
  • Special events requiring separate tickets or enrollment.
  • Private room or gymnasium rentals.
  • Activity-specific add-on passes and programs.
Billing policy: Center Pass memberships are paid monthly through automatic billing. Parks Tacoma does not currently offer annual Center Pass billing. Cancellation requests must be received at least seven business days before the end of the month.

Is a membership worth buying?

An in-district adult paying $10 per day would spend $40 on four visits. The $35 monthly Center Pass would cost less for those four visits, assuming the activities are included. Out-of-district adults paying $45 monthly should compare their expected number of visits in the same way.

For a practical breakdown of day passes, age-based admission, class fees and activity schedules across different facilities, see our community recreation center fee and visitor-planning guide.

Indoor Swimming Pool, Spa & Sauna

Norpoint has an indoor pool offering lap swimming, recreation swimming, water exercise and swimming lessons. Its aquatic amenities also include an adult spa and a dry sauna, subject to current schedules and safety rules.

Lap Swimming

Continuous swimming in designated lap lanes. Swimmers may be required to share lanes or circle swim when capacity is high.

Recreation Swimming

Family and general swim sessions use allocated pool areas. A published general swim period is required; building opening alone does not guarantee access.

Water Fitness

Low-impact aquatic exercise sessions. Ask the instructor about appropriate modifications if you have an injury or mobility limitation.

Adult Spa

For adults age 18+. Posted water temperature is approximately 101–104°F, with a recommended maximum stay of 15 minutes.

Dry Sauna

Adult amenity with posted attire and towel requirements. Do not pour water onto the electric heating elements.

Family Spa

A separate pool-area spa with its own child supervision and activity restrictions. It is not available during swimming lessons.

Pool rules families should understand

  • Children age six and younger must have an adult in the water swimming with them during designated family areas.
  • Designated Tot Zone sessions are intended for young children and their supervising adults.
  • Lap lanes are for continuous swimming, not general pool play.
  • The adult spa is for ages 18 and older.
  • Children under age ten must have an adult in the family spa; spa use is discouraged for children age six and younger.
  • Follow lifeguard instructions, posted pool rules and swim-test requirements where applicable.
Do not rely on an old pool PDF. Schedules issued before July 2026 may still show Saturday evening or Sunday swimming. Norpoint’s July 2026 hours change reduced weekend availability, and the pool schedule must be checked by its current date range.

For another detailed example of how indoor pool schedules, fitness passes, lap swimming and family swimming work within a public recreation facility, consult our Matt Dishman indoor pool and fitness visitor guide.

  1. Open the official Parks Tacoma swimming lessons page.
  2. Filter the available classes by Center at Norpoint.
  3. Select the correct participant age and swimming skill level.
  4. Check the start date, class duration and number of remaining spaces.

  7. Enter the participant details and complete required acknowledgements.
  8. Review payment, cancellation and refund terms.
  9. Finish registration and retain the confirmation.

Important: waitlisted classes are not the same as confirmed enrollment. Do not assume a place is reserved until the official system confirms it.

Gym, Basketball, Pickleball & Fitness Activities

Norpoint offers indoor basketball, pickleball, racquetball, group exercise and other recreation. The gymnasium is also used for scheduled events and rentals, so availability is not continuous.

Current open-gym basketball timetable

DayTimeAge / Use
Tuesday6–8 PMFull gym, all ages.
Friday5:30–7 AMAdults 18+ only.
Friday6–7 PMFull gym, all ages.
SaturdayNoon–2 PMFull gym, all ages.

The open-gym program lists free admission for visitors age 18 and younger. Adults age 19+ pay $3 per drop-in session or participate with a qualifying Center Pass.

These are basketball-specific rates. The $3 open-gym basketball drop-in fee is not the same as the $10 general adult day-pass price. Check which activity you are attending before buying a pass.

Pickleball

Norpoint offers drop-in pickleball and is associated with Parks Tacoma’s Gherkins pickleball program. Open-play times, membership options and player fees are separate from ordinary gym basketball sessions.

Parks Tacoma states that existing Center Pass members receive a $10 monthly discount on qualifying Gherkins membership. Ask whether you need the additional membership before planning a regular pickleball schedule.

Group fitness

Norpoint has a fitness center and regularly scheduled group classes, including yoga, dance-oriented sessions and other instructor-led exercise. Many fitness classes operate within the 2026 reduced building hours.

Use the facility’s current fitness timetable rather than relying on an earlier monthly calendar that may have different weekend times.

Senior Programs, Teen Activities & Community Events

Norpoint provides activities for different age groups, with some programs offered through scheduled registration rather than ordinary drop-in access.

Programs for Adults 50+

Social gatherings, fitness and wellness sessions, recreation opportunities and community events. The adult program age threshold may differ from the membership senior discount age of 60.

Teen Center

Structured youth recreation and social opportunities. Registration, age eligibility and attendance requirements depend on the program.

Fitness & Dance

Yoga, line dancing and other exercise sessions that may be included with an eligible pass or charge separately.

Special Events

Community gatherings, seasonal celebrations and recreational events hosted at the center.
