Upcoming closures: November 11, November 26–27 and December 24–25, 2026, plus January 1, 2027. These dates are listed by the City of Largo. Weather alerts, maintenance and special events can also affect entry.

Sunday exception: the center hosts separately scheduled events such as Sunday Social Dance. An advertised ticketed or drop-in event may operate even when the regular facility schedule says closed. Follow the event listing rather than assuming general access.

Before traveling for a specific class, ask whether the instructor and room are available. An open building does not mean every class, fitness room or social activity is operating.

Check official facility hours and closure dates.

Examples from Published Activity Listings

Zumba Gold

The City’s September–December 2025 catalog showed Tuesday and Thursday Zumba Gold sessions at the community center. The current season may have different times.

Line Dancing

Past City schedules included improver, intermediate and beginner-oriented line dancing. Choose a level that fits your experience.

Karaoke

The official registration listing describes a Tuesday social karaoke activity with a published 12:30–3:30 PM time window. Check dates and any entry charges.

Sunday Social Dance

City listings advertise dancing from 6–9:30 PM, doors at 5:45 PM and a $10 admission charge for the listed session. A cash-only bar and no-outside-food rules apply.

Important: examples from an earlier catalog are not proof that an activity is running on your preferred date. Confirm the live activity listing, instructor, fee, age eligibility and remaining places before traveling.

If your main interest is social programming, older-adult activities and smaller group gatherings, the published Holland Community Center activities and senior-services guide gives another example of community programming organized around social connection and lifelong learning.

Membership Fees: Residents and Nonresidents

The City of Largo offers individual recreation memberships. The published 2026 membership schedule distinguishes standard memberships from Plus memberships.

MembershipPublished price
Largo resident — Annual$25
Largo resident — Annual Plus$200
Nonresident — Annual$125
Nonresident — 6 months$80
Nonresident — 3 months$55
Nonresident — Annual Plus$300
Nonresident — 6 months Plus$175
Nonresident — 3 months Plus$90

What Does Membership Include?

A standard recreation membership includes selected benefits at Largo’s main recreation facilities. Examples include the indoor walking track at Highland Recreation Complex, drop-in basketball at Highland and Southwest, and indoor games or outdoor games at Largo Community Center.

Plus membership adds unlimited fitness-room access at Largo, Highland and Southwest recreation facilities, plus specified PlayWorld and Southwest Pool benefits.

Do not confuse facilities: Largo Community Center has a fitness room, but the City’s listed swimming facilities are at Highland Family Aquatic Center and Southwest Pool. Do not travel to 400 Alt Keene Road expecting an on-site public swimming pool.

How to Buy or Renew

  1. Open the City’s online recreation membership portal.
  2. Create an account if you have not previously used Largo Recreation services.
  3. Choose the correct resident, nonresident or Plus membership.
  4. Check the cost and benefits before submitting payment.
  5. For the first in-person visit, bring a photo ID and two acceptable proofs of residency if claiming Largo resident status.
  6. Staff can verify your address and issue the membership identification card.

The City says recreation memberships are individual, not family memberships. For minors, a parent or legal guardian must complete applicable renewal paperwork. The published policy also describes membership-card refunds within 30 days of purchase.

See official membership prices, documentation and renewal steps.

Fitness Room Access and Getting Started

The community center fitness room is designed for adults looking to maintain an exercise routine without traveling to a large commercial gym. Access and available equipment can differ from the City’s other recreation complexes.

Before Your First Workout

  • Check whether your membership type covers fitness-room entry.
  • Ask whether daily fitness access is available without a Plus membership.
  • Confirm the fitness-room schedule, not just the building opening hours.
  • Wear appropriate athletic shoes and bring water.
  • Ask staff about equipment rules and any orientation requirements.
  • Find out whether classes are included or carry an additional instructor fee.

  • The remaining balance is due 30 days before the event.
  • Written cancellation at least 90 days beforehand provides for return of the full deposit.
  • Cancellation 61–89 days beforehand provides for a 50% deposit refund.
  • Cancellation 60 days or fewer beforehand provides no deposit refund under the published schedule.
  • A refundable damage deposit and additional staffing or cleaning expenses may be required.

Organizations planning charity events should ask about nonprofit fee waivers. Qualifying organizations may receive a partial rental-fee waiver, but it does not automatically remove staffing, equipment, setup or damage charges.

If you are comparing facilities with stages, performance spaces and flexible reception rooms, the Gorton Community Center theater and event-space rental guide provides another example of how venue capacities and event requirements affect planning.

How to Reserve a Ballroom, Studio or Meeting Room

Step 1 — Choose a suitable room.

Estimate attendance and choose from the ballroom, Studio A, Studio D, card room, conference room or outdoor areas. Account for tables, catering, stage use and dance space.

Step 2 — Select possible dates.

Have two or three options available. Include the required setup, event and cleanup period.

Step 3 — Call the facility.

Call (727) 518-3131 and tell staff your event type, expected attendance, preferred space, date and time.

Step 4 — Request an itemized quote.

Ask for the room charge, applicable tax, security/damage deposit, custodial staff, AV equipment, extra hours, kitchen use and bartender charges if relevant.

Step 5 — Confirm catering and event conditions.

For a large event, clarify licensed-caterer and insurance requirements. Ask about permitted decorations, entertainment, sound, alcohol and outside vendors.

Step 6 — Complete the City contract.

Use the official reservation process, sign the agreement, pay the required deposit and note the final-balance deadline.

Step 7 — Save the confirmed arrangements.

Keep copies of the contract, receipts, approved room layout, event schedule and vendor instructions.

Planning tip: do not send wedding invitations or pay outside vendors solely because the date appears available. First secure written confirmation that your preferred space and event conditions have been accepted.

Social Dances, Bingo, Karaoke and Special Events

Largo Community Center is known for regular social activities, including dances and group recreation. Some are drop-in events while others require separate registration.

Sunday Social Dance

The City’s official event listing describes a Sunday evening dance for adults. Published session details include:

  • Doors open at 5:45 PM.
  • Music and dancing run 6–9:30 PM.
  • Admission is $10 per person for the listed session.
  • A DJ plays a range of music from the 1950s through contemporary selections.
  • The bar is cash-only and closes at 8 PM.
  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted.

Check the event date: a listing may refer to a recurring series or a specific session. It does not mean every Sunday is open for general recreation.

Other Entertainment

Published Largo activities include karaoke, social games, music, seasonal events and the Center Stage Concert Series. Some events are ticketed and others are drop-in. Their prices and access rules differ.
