Membership: Residents, Nonresidents and Drop-In Visits

Lexington Community Center welcomes people of different ages and backgrounds. Membership arrangements depend on residency.

Lexington residents

The Town’s membership information provides free Community Center membership for qualifying Lexington residents. Visitors may need to register and obtain a membership card.

Nonresidents

Nonresidents are welcome but are subject to an annual membership fee or an eligible drop-in arrangement under the Town’s published membership policy.

How much is membership?

The Town links a dedicated Membership Cards & Non-Resident Fees PDF from its official facility page. Accessible current information confirms that resident membership is free, while nonresident fees depend on the membership category.

Fee accuracy: a complete, clearly dated October 2026 nonresident rate table was not independently confirmed. Ask for the latest fee sheet covering adults, children, seniors and families before paying. The Town’s published document has also listed a $5 replacement-card fee; confirm that charge when requesting a new card.

Before signing up

  • Check whether you qualify as a Lexington resident.
  • Ask which identification or proof of residence is required.
  • Confirm the membership category for your household.
  • Ask about a daily drop-in option for occasional visitors.
  • Check whether the membership includes your desired fitness or game-room access.
  • Remember that ticketed classes and programs may carry separate fees.

Fitness Rooms, Billiards, Table Tennis and Other Amenities

Lexington Community Center is not simply a gym. It combines physical recreation, quiet activities, community meeting areas and social spaces.

Cardiovascular exercise equipment for eligible community-center members and users.

Indoor exercise space with strength-training equipment, subject to facility policies.

Ping pong

Table-tennis facilities for drop-in play, with availability dependent on activities and reservations.

Mansion Lounge and Library

Comfortable reading, discussion and quiet gathering spaces.

Game room and study rooms

Indoor spaces for games, group study and quieter activities.

Fitness studio

Used for scheduled classes, stretching, yoga and other organized activities.

Arts and crafts rooms

Classrooms and meeting spaces for creative activities and educational programs.

Outdoor recreation

Outdoor table tennis, fitness court, bocce, P6 ball, sensory garden beds and patio seating.

What is free to use?

Many spaces are presented by the Town as drop-in amenities for eligible community-center users. However, public building entry does not automatically guarantee free participation in every class, exclusive use of a room, or access to every piece of equipment.

Ask the front desk whether your selected room requires membership check-in, a reservation or a particular activity schedule.

Planning tip: for a casual visit, start with the game areas, reading and study spaces or available fitness rooms. For an instructor-led session, check MyRec registration first.

Commercial or for-profit rentals are not offered as a standard permitted use. Contact staff before submitting a request involving sales, private business promotion or a ticketed event.

  2. Visit the official MyRec portal. Open Lexington’s facility reservation listings.
  3. Sign in or create an account. Provide the household or organization details required for the request.

Important 2026 reservation-window notice

The official MyRec portal currently displays the message that January–June reservation requests open November 1. Check the year and intended booking period in the portal; do not assume future calendar dates can already be requested.

How long does confirmation take?

Town reservation guidance indicates that requests may take up to three business days for confirmation. A submitted request is not a guaranteed booking.

Special policies for food and alcohol

The Town’s Community Center FAQ states that events involving food should contact the Health Department to determine whether a permit is required. Organizers may need to complete a prerequisite form before applying for a temporary food permit.

For approved events involving alcohol, the Town states that a one-day liquor license from the Select Board is necessary and alcohol must be served by a TIPS-certified server. These requirements do not mean every Community Center event is eligible for alcohol approval.

Book first, announce second: wait for an approved reservation and review all room-use, food, insurance and payment requirements before making nonrefundable event commitments.

Quiet Rooms, Study Spaces and Small Group Meetings

Not every visit requires a paid private rental. The facility includes quiet reading and study spaces used for community-oriented activities.

Drop-in room guidance

One of the Town’s MyRec room descriptions states that a designated drop-in room may be reserved on the same day for a maximum of one hour, with an additional hour possible if available.

This specific rule should not be assumed to apply to every library, study or multipurpose room.

Useful visitor questions

  • Is there a quiet room available right now?
  • Can I use the room without an advance reservation?
  • What is the permitted maximum duration?
  • Are phone calls or group discussions allowed?
  • Can a visitor use the building’s public Wi-Fi?
  • Are there rooms appropriate for students or remote work?

Public Wi-Fi

The Town identifies LEX-PUBLIC as the Community Center’s public Wi-Fi network. The official FAQ says there is no password, but visitors must open a browser and accept the connection terms.

Wi-Fi tip: use the official public network for ordinary browsing. Avoid entering sensitive financial or other private information on shared networks without appropriate security protections.
