JCC Fitness Center: Compare Hours, Gym Fees & Memberships

A Jewish Community Center Fitness Center offers a combination of gym equipment, exercise classes, and community recreation. Depending on the local branch, members may also have access to swimming pools, basketball courts, personal training, sports programs and wellness facilities.

There is no single nationwide JCC gym membership price. Each Jewish Community Center sets its own rates, hours, age policies and guest rules.

Quick answer: Compare your nearest JCC’s monthly dues, enrollment fees, group exercise benefits, pool access and cancellation rules before joining. A cheaper monthly rate may not cover the activities you actually want.

Jewish Community Center Fitness Hours

Two official JCC fitness facilities publish the following schedules. These hours do not apply to every JCC in the United States.

Fitness CenterMonday–ThursdayFridaySaturday–Sunday
JCC of San Francisco, California5:30 AM–10 PM5:30 AM–10 PM7 AM–7 PM
Siegel JCC, Wilmington, Delaware6 AM–9:30 PM6 AM–6 PM8 AM–6 PM

San Francisco: The fitness center and front desk share the published general hours, but the membership office operates on a shorter schedule. The swimming pool also has its own activity timetable.

Wilmington: Siegel JCC publishes separate main-building and fitness hours. Its indoor pool and spa close 15 minutes before the fitness facility closes.

Holiday closures: Jewish holidays and major public holidays can change the regular schedule. Check the current holiday calendar, especially around Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Passover.

2026 Membership Fees: Real JCC Prices

Membership Commitment & Enrollment Charges

At Siegel JCC, the published full membership plans require an initial one-year commitment. The young-adult membership has both annual-commitment and month-to-month options.

JCCSF advertises month-to-month fitness membership. Ask whether any notice period, final billing date or outstanding payment requirement applies before cancellation.

Cost warning: Do not compare only the monthly price. Enrollment, processing, personal training, private classes, additional family members and parking can change your actual cost.

How Much Will a Membership Really Cost?

These examples use regular published rates before promotions, taxes where applicable and optional services.

ExampleFirst Month12 Months of Dues + Listed Joining Charges
Siegel individual adult$225$1,105
Siegel senior individual$212$949
Siegel family$279$1,753
JCCSF individual adult$398$2,576
JCCSF older adult$258$1,996
JCCSF family$773$5,151

Example: A Siegel JCC adult paying $80 per month for 12 months would pay $960 in membership dues, plus the listed $145 in enrollment and processing charges, for $1,105 before other fees.

For JCCSF, the 12-month figures are comparisons at its standard posted rates, not a requirement to purchase an annual contract.

What Does a JCC Fitness Membership Include?

Cardio & Strength Equipment

Treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical machines, weight machines, free weights and stretching areas may be included. Siegel JCC specifically lists more than 45 cardiovascular equipment pieces.

Group Fitness Classes

Options can include yoga, Pilates, cycling, HIIT, strength, barre and Zumba. JCCSF advertises more than 100 group exercise classes weekly with full-access memberships.

Swimming & Aquatics

JCCSF full-access memberships include lap and family swimming. Siegel JCC provides indoor and seasonal outdoor aquatics. Always check separate pool schedules.

Personal Training

Both examples offer personal training services. JCCSF lists introductory personal training benefits, while further training sessions can cost extra.

Locker & Recovery Facilities

Showers and lockers may be available. JCCSF lists sauna, steam room and recovery equipment. Siegel offers separately priced annual locker rentals.

Sports & Recreation

Some JCCs offer basketball, pickleball, volleyball, tennis and other sports. Court availability, reservations and access can differ from regular gym hours.

Are Group Classes Included?

At both featured centers, many group fitness classes are included with eligible fitness memberships. This does not mean every specialty workshop, Pilates reformer session, swim lesson or private training appointment is free.

Before joining, request the current class timetable and identify which classes have additional fees or advance reservations.

Can You Visit Without Membership?

Guest admission is determined by each local JCC. Some facilities allow day passes, some require a member host, and certain sports activities admit nonmembers only during designated periods.

Verified example: Siegel JCC lists selected pickup basketball sessions that are open to nonmembers without member accompaniment, subject to a $15 guest fee. Other sessions are members-only.

That $15 rate is not a universal day pass to every Siegel facility or any other JCC.

Guest Checklist

  • Confirm whether walk-in fitness passes are available.
  • Ask whether photo identification is required.
  • Find out if a member must accompany you.
  • Confirm whether the guest fee includes the pool, gym and exercise classes.
  • Check whether guests need to sign a waiver.
  • Ask about age restrictions and daily capacity limits.
  • Check whether day-pass purchases are refundable.

For a first visit, an approved trial workout or facility tour may be more useful than buying a long-term membership without seeing the equipment and class timetable.

Fitness Center Age Rules: Siegel JCC Example

Siegel JCC publishes detailed age rules for its fitness center. These should not be applied automatically to other JCCs.

AgePublished Access Rule
Under 12Not permitted in the fitness center.
12–13Parent permission/waiver required; adult over 18 must remain next to the child.
14–15Waiver required; cardio equipment may be used unsupervised. Weight equipment requires adult supervision unless the teen completes an approved JCC trainer orientation.
16–17Waiver required; full adult fitness privileges.

For family memberships, clarify which dependent children receive fitness-floor access and which are eligible only for age-appropriate programs.

Swimming Pools: Check the Correct Schedule

A JCC can have several distinct swimming schedules for lap swimming, recreation swimming, family swimming, water aerobics and swim school.

At JCCSF: The published aquatics center hours are Monday–Friday 5:30 AM–9:45 PM and weekends 7 AM–6:45 PM, with an earlier finish on the third Sunday of the month. Family recreation swim has separate blocks.

At Siegel JCC: The indoor pool and spa normally close 15 minutes before the facility. The outdoor pool is marked closed for the season in October 2026.

Before Going Swimming

  1. Choose lap swim, family swim, lessons or water exercise.
  2. Find the official pool timetable for your chosen day.
  3. Check whether swimming access is included in your membership.
  4. Confirm supervision requirements for children.
  5. Ask about swim-cap, locker, towel and flotation-device rules.
  6. Check special closures for swim teams or lessons.
  7. Arrive during the correct swimming block rather than relying solely on gym hours.

How to Join a Jewish Community Center Fitness Facility

1. Identify the Exact Center

Search by city and official organization name. Do not assume every “JCC Fitness Center” listing refers to the same operator.

2. Choose the Right Membership

Compare adult, senior, young-adult, couple and family plans based on eligibility and household size.

3. Review the Total Cost

Add enrollment and processing fees to the published monthly dues. Check current promotions and contract commitments.

4. Verify Included Benefits

Confirm fitness-floor, aquatics, gymnasium, class and locker access. Ask about restrictions on peak hours.

5. Request a Tour

Contact the membership desk, arrange a tour and ask to see equipment, changing facilities and exercise studios.

6. Join Through the Operator

Complete the official JCC membership process, review billing authorization and retain your agreement.

Before Signing a Membership Agreement

  • Is there a minimum commitment?
  • Does the membership renew automatically?
  • How much notice is required to cancel?
  • Can it be frozen for travel or medical reasons?
  • Are there enrollment or processing fees?
  • Are children included in family pricing?
  • Are pool, classes and sports courts included?
  • Is there a discounted membership for eligible households?

JCCSF also publishes a fitness membership reduced-rate assistance program for eligible applicants, subject to available funding and its application requirements.

Official Sources & Membership Information

Final membership advice: Check the center’s current enrollment price, written contract, monthly dues and actual class or pool access before authorizing payment. A JCC membership at one location does not automatically grant access at another.
