Gym, Fitness Room & Age Policies

Free membership includes eligibility for available gym and fitness-room access, subject to the facility schedule and safety rules.

Participant AgeRule
Ages 5–11Youth membership; access subject to program-specific supervision requirements.
Ages 12–13May access open recreation outside scheduled programs according to the city’s age policy; not eligible for independent fitness-room use.
Ages 14–15May use the fitness room only while accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Ages 16–17May use the fitness room without a parent or guardian, provided posted rules and staff directions are followed.
Ages 18+Adult pass; fitness access subject to current room availability and safety requirements.
Supervision difference: Permission to enter the center during open recreation is not the same as permission to use weight or fitness equipment. Follow the specific fitness-room age requirements.

Before Using the Fitness Room

  • Confirm your annual membership is active.
  • Check the fitness-room schedule and any temporary closure.
  • Follow the age and guardian requirements.
  • Wear suitable athletic clothing and footwear.
  • Ask whether equipment orientation is required.
  • Follow staff instructions and equipment safety rules.

Programs for Children, Teens & Families

Holiday Park has community ties with John Baker Elementary School and Hoover Middle School. The facility hosts scheduled youth and family recreation alongside adult classes.

The city’s program offerings can include after-school recreation, seasonal activities, arts, sports and youth development. Enrollment, supervision and age requirements depend on the program.

How to Enroll a Child

  1. Confirm the child’s age and the available Holiday Park program.
  2. Ask whether the session is after school, seasonal or open recreation.
  3. Register the child for a free Youth or Teen membership.
  4. Complete required guardian, emergency contact and pickup information.
  5. Check the activity schedule and capacity.
  6. Confirm start dates, transportation arrangements and any materials needed.
Summer food service: Holiday Park appears in Albuquerque’s youth summer food program listings. Meal service dates and eligibility are seasonal, so do not assume lunch is offered throughout the school year.

Check the city’s seasonal youth meal sites and serving times.

Holiday Park Community Center Rental Fees

The City of Albuquerque allows approved rentals of community-center classrooms, multipurpose rooms and gymnasiums. Fees depend on whether the event is free and public, nonprofit-related, fee-based instruction or private/exclusive use.

Regular-Hours Facility Use

CategoryPublished Price / Type of Use
Category 1Free. Qualifying free, open-to-the-public community activities or meetings.
Category 2$7.50 per room/hour. Qualifying closed activities held by eligible public-interest or governmental organizations.
Category 3$10 per room/hour or $15 per gym/hour for qualifying activities charging participation fees. Recurring events may also have a $25 nonrefundable cleaning fee per semester.
Category 4Private or exclusive events: $40/hour for fewer than 50 guests; $50/hour for 50–99 guests; $60/hour for 100 or more guests.

The rental coordinator decides the appropriate category. A birthday party or private baby shower will not qualify for Category 1 simply because it is hosted by a local resident.

Example: A four-hour private party with 40 guests would have a listed Category 4 base room charge of $160, if its room and booking qualify for that category. Additional requirements and charges may apply, and the reservation must be approved.

After-Hours Rental Prices

SpaceHourly4 Hours8 Hours
Small Room · 1–49 guests$100$350$700
Medium/Large Room · 50+ guests$150$450$900
Gymnasium · 50+ guestsFrom $150$500$1,000

After-hours rules: There is a three-hour minimum for hourly rentals. Gym pricing may rise based on attendance. Saturday half-day booking is listed for 3:30–7:30 PM, while Sunday offers half-day or full-day periods between 10 AM and 6 PM.

Important: The standard private-event Category 4 rate is not the after-hours rental rate. For example, a four-hour small-room after-hours booking is listed at $350, not the ordinary $40-per-hour rate.

For more ways to calculate room charges, deposits and staffing costs, read our community center rental budgeting guide. The official Albuquerque schedule governs Holiday Park bookings.

How to Book a Room at Holiday Park

The city uses an online request and approval process. Submitting an application does not automatically reserve a room.

  1. Create an Adult Community Center Pass. A current free adult pass is required before the facility rental interest form can be submitted.
  2. Choose your activity. Specify whether you want a meeting, class, party, reception, workshop or another approved event.
  3. Choose the space. Select Holiday Park and the type of room required.
  4. Check capacity. Give the expected number of guests so the city can classify the event and choose an appropriate room.
  5. Submit the request. Complete the city’s Facility Usage/Rental Interest Form with your event date and details.
  6. Allow review time. Ordinary requests may take up to two weeks to process; city activities receive scheduling priority.
  7. Receive an approval decision. The center supervisor and rental coordinator review space and staffing availability.
  8. Complete your account. If approved, review the contract and invoice through play.cabq.gov.
  9. Submit the waiver and payment. Upload required documents and pay the applicable charges.
  10. Save written confirmation. The rental is confirmed only after the required fees, documents and waivers are completed.

Free Recreation vs. Senior-Specific Services

Holiday Park’s classes and games are available across different age groups, including older adults. However, it is a general municipal community center rather than a dedicated senior meal or adult day-care facility.

Older adults can ask about yoga, Pilates, stretching, arts and recreational gatherings. If you specifically need senior lunches, transportation assistance, Medicare counseling or aging-related support, those services may require a dedicated provider.

Our senior community center services guide explains how to find senior meal programs, transportation, social activities and local assistance.
