Daily Admission and Membership Fees

The City of Durango publishes admission by age, with daily, 20-visit punch, three-month, six-month and annual options. All recreation-center passes are nonrefundable.

Pass typeYouth 4–17Adult 18–61Senior 62–89

3 months$130$160$135

Free admission: Children age 3 and younger enter free with a paid adult. Visitors age 90 and older also receive free admission.

Which Pass Saves Money?

One or two visits

Choose the daily pass. An adult visiting twice would pay $16 total.

Occasional repeat visits

The adult 20-punch pass costs $140, equivalent to $7 per visit when all 20 admissions are used, compared with $8 daily.

Regular weekly use

The adult annual pass costs $415. Compared with $8 daily admission, it becomes cheaper from the 52nd visit within the membership year, assuming the visits would otherwise be paid individually.

Family Pass Rules

Family pricing is available for three-month, six-month and annual passes. The first adult pays the full adult pass amount and the second eligible adult receives half-price admission for the same pass term. The City limits household family-pass pricing to two adults; ask Guest Services how additional eligible family members are priced.

For example, two adult annual passes under this formula total $622.50 rather than $830 when purchased individually.

There is no family daily pass.

Towel Service and Locker Fees

If you plan to swim or shower, bring your own towel or account for optional towel service.

The 2026 rental guide also lists longer-term locker rentals:

Ask the front desk about day-use locker arrangements, available locks and locker access policies.

Indoor Swimming Pools, Hot Tub & Waterslide

The center has both lap-swimming and leisure-water areas. It is useful for swimmers training in lanes as well as families interested in recreational pool activities.

Lap pool

Used for individual lap swimming, swim clubs, lessons and scheduled aquatic activities. Public lane availability changes during organized sessions.

Leisure pool

Warmer water and recreation features support casual and family swimming. Check the play-area schedule rather than assuming all features operate throughout the day.

Hot tub and waterslide

The center has a hot tub and waterslide. Check current equipment status, posted access rules and supervision requirements before visiting.

Typical Pool Temperatures

Lap poolApproximately 80°F
Leisure poolApproximately 89°F
Spa / hot tubApproximately 102°F in the March 2026 schedule

These are published average temperatures, not a guarantee of the exact water temperature on your visit.

Current Pool Schedule: Important Details

  • The general pool schedule runs Monday–Friday 5:45 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday pool hours are 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday swimming starts at noon and ends at 4:30 p.m.
  • Masters swimmers and swim-club groups may occupy lanes during booked sessions.
  • Some published schedules reserve two public lanes during swim-club activity.
  • Hydro-Robics and other water-fitness activities may use designated times.
  • The exact lap-swim and leisure-play timetable changes periodically.
Waterslide availability: The slide experienced a maintenance closure in 2026. Do not plan a visit solely around the slide without confirming that it is operating that day.

The linked March 2026 PDF is useful for understanding lane allocations and water-fitness scheduling. It is not a live October timetable.

Fitness Center, Walking Track & Climbing Wall

Durango’s recreation center has more than swimming pools. Its indoor facilities support workouts, recreational sports and activities for different ability levels.

Cardio equipment

Cardiovascular workout machines and other fitness equipment are available in designated fitness areas.

Strength equipment

Free weights and pin-loaded or selectorized exercise equipment are listed features.

Indoor track

Allows walking or running indoors when weather conditions make outdoor activity less comfortable.

Gymnasium

Used for basketball, pickleball and other scheduled sports. Organized programs or rentals may limit open-court times.

Racquetball

Courts support racquetball play and reservations. Ask Guest Services about court scheduling and additional fees.

Climbing wall

Indoor climbing is a listed amenity. Equipment, staff supervision and climbing schedules should be checked beforehand.

Practical tip: Building admission does not guarantee that a specific court, climbing session or supervised activity has an open space at your preferred time.

Classes, Youth Activities and Registration

The City offers recreation programs in addition to general admission. Programs may include fitness activities, aquatic instruction, recreational sports and seasonal youth activities.

Step 1 — Find your activity.

Open the City’s recreation registration portal and choose the relevant program or activity category.

Step 2 — Check the location.

Confirm the activity specifically takes place at Durango Community Recreation Center, rather than Chapman Hill or another city facility.

Step 3 — Review the details.

Check participant age, skill level, dates, start time, class cost, available places and any required equipment.

Step 4 — Create or sign in to an account.

Enter the required participant and contact information on the official portal.

Step 5 — Register and keep confirmation.

Complete the official registration process and save the receipt, confirmation and class instructions.

  1. Identify whether you need a meeting room, conference room, amphitheater, gym court or pool-party arrangement.
  2. Estimate the number of attendees, preferred date, duration and equipment needs.
  3. Compare regular and nonprofit rates if your group may qualify for nonprofit pricing.
  4. Contact Guest Services at 970-375-7300 or email rcrr@durangogov.org with your request.
  5. Ask whether the date is available and if staff coverage, an approved rental form, a damage deposit or additional equipment charges apply.
