What Can You Do at Cypress Community Center?

Wedding Receptions

The Grand Ballroom provides banquet seating, event lighting, kitchen access and patio connections for approved receptions.

Birthday & Family Parties

Smaller rentable spaces can accommodate approved birthday parties, anniversaries and family celebrations.

Business Meetings

Rooms support presentations, meetings, company workshops, training and other professional gatherings.

Recreation Classes

The City’s Recreation & Community Services Department coordinates exercise, sports, crafts and other interest-based classes.

Youth Programs

Seasonal youth sports, learning opportunities and other community activities are listed through the city’s registration system.

Community Events

City-related programs, commission meetings and approved community gatherings may be scheduled here.

Not a general-access gym: The official center listing emphasizes community rooms and event facilities. Do not assume Cypress Community Center has an indoor swimming pool, open fitness gym or walk-in recreation membership simply because those amenities exist at other community centers.

Rooms, Capacities & Event Layouts

The City lists several spaces with different seating configurations. Choosing the right room depends on whether guests will be seated at tables, attending a presentation or participating in an activity.

RoomMaximum Published Capacity
Full Grand Ballroom336 banquet / 400 theater
Grand Ballroom A or B120 banquet / 150 theater
Grand Ballroom A + B240 banquet / 300 theater
Garden Room with patio72 banquet / 100 theater
Community Room72 banquet / 91 theater
Arts & Crafts Room56 banquet / 66 theater

Grand Ballroom

The largest event space includes adjustable lighting, laptop and audio connections, kitchen access and glass doors opening toward a patio area. It can be divided into separate smaller sections.

Community Room

This room is suited to smaller meetings, bridal showers, birthdays and workshops. The City lists lighting controls, projector-screen access and kitchen access.

Arts & Crafts Room

A smaller space suitable for workshops, instructional activities, meetings and certain private events. Projector-screen equipment is listed among its amenities.

Capacity planning: The maximum number depends on the seating arrangement. A theater arrangement generally accommodates more people than a banquet layout. Staff must approve the proposed setup and final guest count.

Rental Fees: Resident, Nonresident & Other Categories

Cypress Community Center’s published rental schedule separates applicants into six categories:

  • A: Cypress resident private rental.
  • B: Nonresident private rental.
  • C: Cypress resident nonprofit.
  • D: Nonresident nonprofit.
  • E: Commercial organization based in Cypress.
  • F: Commercial organization based outside Cypress.

Rates depend on the room, applicant category, weekday versus weekend, and whether alcohol is approved.

How to Reserve Cypress Community Center

The City requires in-person completion of the facility reservation process. Calling helps you confirm availability before you travel, but the phone call alone does not secure a booking.

  1. Select the room. Choose the ballroom, garden room, community room or arts-and-crafts room based on your estimated guests.
  2. Choose event dates. Prepare at least two suitable dates and your preferred start and end times.
  3. Check availability. Call 714-229-6780 and ask about room availability, rental categories and any event restrictions.
  4. Confirm your booking category. Ask what documentation establishes Cypress residency, nonprofit eligibility or business status.
  5. Review the fee sheet. Calculate the room rental, minimum booking time, security deposit and any equipment or alcohol-related charges.
  6. Request the reservation packet. Obtain the City’s Facility Reservation Application and associated rental documents.
  7. Visit the office. Go to Cypress Community Center, 5700 Orange Avenue, during office hours to complete the required reservation procedure.
  8. Submit paperwork and payment. The City requires a completed packet and payment to reserve the date.
  9. Confirm event arrangements. Discuss seating, catering, kitchen access, audio equipment, setup and cleanup requirements.
  10. Keep written confirmation. Do not advertise the venue as booked until the reservation is officially approved.
Required advance notice: The facility listing says reservations must be made at least 30 working days before the event. Working days are not the same as calendar days, so start planning well ahead.

How Far Ahead Can You Reserve?

Wedding Receptions, Parties & Corporate Meetings

Weddings & Receptions

Consider the full ballroom for larger seated events. Ask about banquet layouts, kitchen access, patio availability, licensed vendors, alcohol requirements and security staffing.

Birthday Celebrations

The community room or arts-and-crafts room may suit smaller approved gatherings. Confirm food permissions, setup, guest count and minimum booking hours.

Business Conferences

Ask about projector equipment, microphones, lecterns, display connections, seating arrangements and audiovisual compatibility.

Nonprofit Events

Resident and nonresident nonprofit groups have different fee categories. Ask what evidence is needed to qualify for the applicable nonprofit rate.

Rental Equipment & Kitchen Features

The City lists 60-inch round tables, six-foot and eight-foot tables, and chairs among available room furnishings. Selected rooms provide kitchen access.

Published kitchen equipment includes a refrigerator, freezer, ice machine and three-compartment sink. Additional rented equipment can include a microphone, projector, lectern, risers and bar.

Before hiring a caterer, confirm permitted food preparation, kitchen use, delivery timing, cleanup rules and any required permits.

Recreation Classes, Youth Sports & Activities

The Recreation & Community Services Department offers seasonal classes and programs for children, teens and adults. These activities occur at various city locations, not necessarily inside Cypress Community Center.

Youth Classes

Educational, recreational, creative and special-interest programs for different age groups.

Exercise & Fitness

Instructor-led exercise classes and other fitness opportunities subject to the seasonal schedule.

Arts & Crafts

Creative activities, hands-on instruction and community interest classes.

Youth and adult sports leagues and recreation classes managed by the City.
