What Is Inside Antioch Community Center?

The community center serves both everyday recreation and larger reserved events. Not every room is open for casual public use, and some spaces require registration or a rental contract.

Community Hall Ballroom

Large indoor event space with a published dining capacity of 300 people. Common uses include weddings, receptions and community celebrations.

West Island Room

Smaller event and meeting space with a published dining capacity of 59 people.

Full-size gymnasium

Indoor sports space used for scheduled recreation, athletic programs and gym reservations.

Preschool classrooms

Two preschool classrooms support early-childhood recreation and educational activities.

Outdoor amphitheater

Outdoor event setting with a published capacity of 300. Its use is subject to scheduling and rental approval.

Catering and support spaces

The City’s rental information also lists kitchen, lobby, patio and event-equipment options.

Not a general admission fitness club: do not assume the gymnasium is available all day or that visiting the building includes free recreational access. Use the current activity schedule for sports and program availability.

Classes, Youth Activities and Recreation Programs

The Antioch Recreation Department publishes seasonal recreation guides with activities for children, teens, adults and older residents. These can include sports, preschool activities, camps, movement classes and special events.

Youth and family activities

  • Preschool recreation and learning activities.
  • Youth basketball and other sports instruction.
  • Seasonal camps and school-break programs.
  • Recreation classes and family activities.
  • Community celebrations and youth events.

Adult and older-adult activities

  • Drop-in basketball, volleyball and pickleball.
  • Movement, balance and wellness programs.
  • Adult recreation and enrichment classes.
  • Sports leagues and special events.
  • Activities for qualifying older residents.

Fall 2026–Winter 2027 Recreation Guide

The City has published a recreation guide covering October 2026 through January 2027, with online and in-person registration available. The current online catalog is the best place to see remaining spaces, dates and final activity charges.

How to register for a class

  1. Open the City’s recreation page. Choose the current guide or online activity registration.
  2. Search for the activity. Use its name, age group, category or activity number.
  3. Check the exact session. Review the dates, venue, age range, time, fee and any special requirements.
  4. Create or sign in to your account. Add the appropriate participant to your household profile.
  5. Complete payment. Registration is generally first-come, first-served and payment is required at registration.
  6. Save the confirmation. Use the final receipt for check-in or any later registration changes.

If a class is full, the City may offer a waitlist. Telephone and fax registration or payment are not accepted.

Registration Fees, Refunds and Financial Assistance

Class fees are set by the specific program rather than one universal community-center admission rate. Some classes have different resident and nonresident prices.

RuleCity’s published policy
RegistrationFirst-come, first-served, with payment due at registration.
WaitlistsAvailable for some full classes.
Late registrationNo prorated credit for late registration or missed classes.
Refund or transfer requestSubmit in writing no later than five business days before the first class.
Standard refund service charge$10 per activity/class unless the Recreation Department cancels the class.
Late youth pickup$10 per five-minute interval per child under the published policy.
Returned or rejected payment$65 charge.

Scholarships and fee assistance

Antioch offers recreation scholarship and fee-assistance opportunities for eligible residents, including people age 17 and younger or age 50 and older who meet household-income conditions. Availability depends on program rules and available funds.

Applications generally open in January and are accepted while funding remains. Some individual scholarship programs have narrower application periods.

Before paying: if assistance may be needed, check eligibility and available funds first. An application or approval does not always guarantee a class seat or scholarship funding.

Gymnasium: Basketball, Volleyball and Pickleball

The Antioch Community Center gym hosts scheduled drop-in activities and sports programs. These are different from a privately rented gym court.

2026 published drop-in examples

The City’s Spring 2026 Recreation Guide listed the following sessions. They are historical examples for that season, not a guaranteed Fall 2026 schedule.

ActivitySpring 2026 listed timeAge / price
Teen & Adult VolleyballTuesday 7:30–9:30 PM; Sunday 5:30–7:30 PMAges 14+; $5 per visit.
Adult BasketballSunday 5:30–7:30 PMAges 18+; $5 per visit.
Adult PickleballTuesday and Thursday 9–11 AMAges 18+; $5 per visit.

Those sessions had specified no-play dates, so even a published weekly schedule did not mean the activity ran every week. For visitors ages 14–17, the Spring guide required identification and a signed waiver for qualifying teen activities.

What to bring

  • Identification when the sport or age group requires it.
  • Completed participant waiver if applicable.
  • Appropriate indoor athletic shoes.
  • Water bottle and personal sports equipment if required.
  • Payment for drop-in admission.
Do not use the Spring 2026 schedule for an October visit. Search the current fall program catalog or call 925-776-3050 to confirm the sport, time, age limit, fee and gym availability.

How to Book an Antioch Community Center Event

For an indoor event, the Recreation Department directs renters to contact staff about availability and arrange a contract or room-viewing appointment.

  1. Decide on your room. Choose Full Ballroom, Half Ballroom, Quarter Ballroom, West Island Room, Amphitheater or another approved facility based on your guest count and setup.
  2. Prepare your event details. Include the requested date, rental start and end times, actual function times, guest count, children attending and type of event.
  3. Call the Recreation Department. Dial 925-776-3050, extension 0, to ask about availability and schedule a room-viewing or contract appointment.
  4. Review the application. Complete the City’s rental application with all required details, facilities and extra equipment.
  5. Get a complete quote. Confirm the current hourly rate, minimum booking, nonprofit eligibility, deposit and any staffing or insurance requirements.
  6. Attend the contract appointment. The City says the initial rental deposit must be paid in person at the time of reservation.
  7. Pay additional balances officially. The City offers later account payments through its online registration/payment system.
  8. Keep final documents. Save the signed contract, receipt, approved setup, event schedule and instructions for vendors.

Accepted initial deposit payment methods

The City’s indoor-rentals page lists cash, check, credit or debit card, and Apple Pay for the initial in-person deposit.

Making additional payments online

For a personal reservation, sign into the official registration account, open My Account, select Pay on Account, enter the amount and complete the checkout prompts.

For an organization reservation, open Organization Services under My Account, locate Account Balance, select View Details and follow the payment prompts.

Library, Water Park and Nearby Facility Differences

The Antioch Community Center is part of a larger recreation area on Lone Tree Way. Several nearby destinations have separate management, admissions and activity hours.

Prewett Library

The Contra Costa County Library’s Prewett branch is associated with the community-center complex. Library hours and borrowing services should be checked separately from Recreation Department hours.

Antioch Water Park

Located at 4701 Lone Tree Way. It offers aquatic recreation, seasonal swimming, slides and related programs. Water Park admission is separate from community-center event access.

Antioch Senior Center

Located at 415 West 2nd Street, a different address. Senior programming, meals and room rentals may be available there.

Avoid the wrong destination: Nick Rodriguez Community Center is another City facility, located at 213 F Street. If your event confirmation names Nick Rodriguez, do not drive to 4703 Lone Tree Way.

Park Picnic Reservations and Permits

The Antioch Recreation Department also administers certain park picnic reservations and permits. You can arrange park-use reservations through the City’s approved process, even when the picnic site itself is not at the Community Center.

Published picnic-reservation basics

  • Group picnic reservations are first-come, first-served.
  • Reservations must generally be made at least two working days in advance.
  • Applications generally cannot be submitted more than 60 days ahead.
  • Reservations cover a single day.
  • Picnic areas may be used between 8 AM and dusk, subject to posted rules.
  • Organized sports, fitness classes, bounce houses, alcohol use and publicly promoted activities may require additional permits.

For certain picnic reservations, the City permits in-person processing at Antioch Community Center or mailing an application to 4703 Lone Tree Way.

Common Mistakes That Cause Problems

Confusing office hours with gym access

Some sports operate in the evenings or on Sundays, but those times do not mean the regular office or all facility areas are open.

Using a previous season’s class schedule

Activity days and fees change. The Spring 2026 guide should not be used to assume an identical Fall 2026 schedule.

Underestimating event costs

Base room fees may exclude staff, insurance, catering facilities, equipment or additional rental hours.

Skipping the rental contract

Asking about availability does not create a confirmed booking. Complete the City’s agreement and approved payment process.
