  • All participants must shower with soap before entering the pool, sauna or steam room.
  • People with open wounds or infectious conditions must not use the pools.
  • Weather, lightning, equipment issues and biological incidents can cause unexpected pool closures.

Practical tip: A building being open does not guarantee family swim, lap lanes or a swim lesson is available. Check the aquatics page and call the Welcome Desk when a particular swimming session matters.

If you want to understand how pool schedules, day passes and class reservations differ at a municipal recreation facility, our Matt Dishman Community Center pool and visitor guide provides a useful comparison; Portland’s admission rules do not apply to LJCC.
