Rooms, Facilities & Maximum Guest Capacity

The center has five principal rental options. Each is suited to a different type of gathering, so room selection matters more than simply booking the largest available space.

Centerville Room

Maximum capacity: 230

Large room with a commercial kitchen and dance floor. Suited to larger receptions, weddings, reunions and celebrations.

Minimum booking: 6 hours.

Niles Room

Maximum capacity: 150

Spacious gathering room with an adjoining outdoor atrium, projector screen and dance floor.

Minimum booking: 4 hours. No kitchen access.

Meeting Room

Maximum capacity: 50

Includes counter space, a projection screen/whiteboard, two sinks and access to an outdoor patio. Suitable for meetings and smaller gatherings.

Children’s Party Room

Maximum capacity: 45

Includes child-size furniture for up to 24 children, a sink, child-size restroom and access to a private patio/playground.

Ask the City for current rental price and availability.

Outdoor Picnic Area

Maximum capacity: 40

Includes four picnic tables and two charcoal grills. Rental is for the day until sundown.

Arrival requirement: occupy the site by 10 AM.

Centerville Community Park

The facility is part of a 10-acre park setting, making it convenient for outdoor gatherings and recreational visits.

Park use and formal picnic reservations are different from an indoor room booking.

Room selection shortcut: choose the Meeting Room for a smaller business or family gathering, the Niles Room if you want a dance floor without a kitchen, and the Centerville Room for a larger event requiring commercial kitchen access.

When comparing room capacities and municipal event facilities across the Bay Area, our San Ramon Community Center visitor and rental guide provides another East Bay option. Check each city’s rules separately before deciding.

Centerville Community Center Rental Rates

The City of Fremont’s published rates depend on the room and whether the renter qualifies as a Fremont resident, Fremont nonprofit, non-resident or business.

Rental spaceFremont nonprofitResidentNon-residentBusiness
Meeting Room$52/hr$70/hr$89/hr$102/hr
Niles Room$70/hr$108/hr$133/hr$185/hr
Centerville Room$96/hr$165/hr$215/hr$279/hr
Picnic Area$64/day$128/day$146/day$146/day
Additional charges: all rentals require a $275 refundable cleaning/damage deposit. Events with 100 or more guests require an additional staff member at $25 per hour. Final charges can vary with staffing, room use and approved arrangements.

Minimum Rental Cost Examples

These examples calculate the published room rate multiplied by the required minimum rental duration. They exclude the refundable deposit and any extra staffing or service costs.

ExampleResidentNon-resident
Niles Room, 4 hours$432$532
Centerville Room, 6 hours$990$1,290
Picnic Area, full day$128$146

For a six-hour resident booking of the Centerville Room, the published room charge is $990. Adding the refundable $275 cleaning/damage deposit produces an initial amount of $1,265 before any applicable staffing or other costs.

Nonprofit discount: Fremont nonprofits must provide qualifying documentation. The City states that Saturday rentals for eligible Fremont nonprofit groups are charged the resident hourly rate instead of the normal nonprofit rate.

For comparisons with recreation facilities that publish different room categories and peak/non-peak pricing, see our Seven Trees Community Center rental-fee guide for San José. Those rates do not apply to Fremont.

Programs, Recreation Classes & Community Activities

Centerville Community Center is part of Fremont’s Parks and Recreation system. Its facilities can support recreation activities, community meetings, youth gatherings and approved private events. However, a room’s capacity and rental availability do not establish that a particular class is running there.

Use the City recreation catalog to search for current offerings by age, season and location.

Registering for a Fremont Recreation Activity

  1. Open Fremont’s official Parks and Recreation website.
  2. Find the current recreation catalog or activities registration section.
  3. Search the activity or select your preferred program category.
  4. Check the location field for Centerville Community Center, if you specifically need this facility.
  5. Read the age requirements, start dates, fees and cancellation conditions.
  6. Create or sign in to the official recreation account and complete registration.
  7. Save your confirmation and verify the reporting location before the first class.

How to Book Centerville Community Center

For private events, the City uses a facility rental inquiry and application process. A preferred date is not automatically reserved merely because an inquiry was submitted.

1 Choose the room

Estimate attendance, seating, dance-floor use, food service and whether a commercial kitchen is essential.

2 Choose the time

Include setup and cleanup in your requested rental duration. Check the minimum four-hour Niles Room or six-hour Centerville Room requirement.

3 Estimate the budget

Multiply the hourly rate by your requested hours. Add the $275 deposit and any extra staffing or event-specific charges.

4 Check eligibility for discounts

Have appropriate proof of Fremont residency or nonprofit status ready if claiming a discounted rate.

5 Submit the City request

Complete the official Facility Use Interest Form, selecting Centerville Community Center and giving your preferred date, event type, attendance and contact details.

6 Complete the rental paperwork

Follow the City’s instructions for the appropriate rental packet, identification, payment and any special event approvals.

Information Needed for the Request Form

  • Applicant’s name, email address and phone number
  • Organization name, when applicable
  • Requested facility and preferred event date
  • Rental start/end time including setup and cleanup
  • Estimated attendance
  • Purpose of event
  • Whether a kitchen is required
  • Whether food or alcohol will be served
  • Any paid caterer, DJ, performer, speaker or other vendor
  • Questions about recurring rentals or alternative dates

The City’s inquiry form states that staff will contact applicants within five business days after submission. The City also provides a rental packet process through the center office at 3355 Country Drive or via email to centervillecc@fremont.gov.

Payments, Deposits & Event Rules

The City requires full payment following approval of the rental application. Accepted payment methods include credit/debit card, cash and check. Reservations paid by check must be arranged at least 14 days in advance.

$275 Deposit

A refundable cleaning/damage deposit applies to all rentals. Refund eligibility depends on compliance with the booking conditions and facility inspection.

100+ Guests

Events with at least 100 guests trigger an additional staffing requirement at the published $25 hourly rate.

Proof for Discounts

Renters requesting resident or qualifying nonprofit pricing must provide acceptable documentation.

Before hiring vendors: ask the facility about catering, food service, alcohol, music, decorations, insurance, cleanup, noise limits and any permits. The inquiry form asks about food, alcohol and paid service providers, but completing that section does not itself authorize those activities.

If you are evaluating event venues in different California cities, our Southside Community Center location and rental comparison explains why deposits, security requirements and event policies must be checked for the exact operator.

Picnic Area & Family Parties

The outdoor picnic area accommodates up to 40 people and includes four picnic tables and two charcoal grills. The City charges a full-day rate rather than an hourly picnic rate.

  • The reservation lasts until sundown.
  • Renters must occupy the reserved area by 10 AM.
  • The picnic area’s booking terms differ from the indoor meeting rooms.
  • Bring appropriate supplies for the charcoal grills and clean up afterward.
  • Check park-use and weather policies before arranging vendors or decorations.
Children’s birthdays: the Children’s Party Room has a child-size restroom, furniture and a private patio/playground, but its current price is not displayed alongside the main rental table. Call for the exact quote before choosing between an indoor party and the outdoor picnic area.
