Gymnasiums, Open Gym & Sports

The recreation center contains two gymnasiums used for public open gym, youth leagues, adult sports and recreation programs.

  • Open gym is available when the court is not scheduled for leagues, classes or rentals.
  • Basketball may be played on half courts or one-third courts depending on demand.
  • Volleyball nets require available court space and at least six participants.
  • Organized team practices, private training and commercial instruction are not permitted during public open gym without Windsor Recreation approval.
  • Open gym is unavailable during scheduled adult and youth league use.
Best open gym strategy: call 970-674-3500 no more than 15 minutes before arriving to confirm available court space. The Town specifically recommends this because the schedule can change at short notice.

Preschool Open Gym

Young children can use age-appropriate motor-skill equipment during scheduled preschool gym activities. An adult must accompany children, with at least one adult for every three children. Parent participation is required.

Senior Basketball

Windsor offers Wednesday senior drop-in basketball for adults age 55 and older. The activity uses part of the gym, and the other section may remain available for regular community open gym.

Fitness Center, Indoor Track & Exercise Classes

Windsor provides fitness equipment on the first and second floors, including Cybex cardiovascular machines and resistance-training equipment. The indoor running track offers climate-controlled walking and jogging.

General fitness, strength training and cardiovascular exercise. Ask the front desk about equipment orientation and age requirements.

Indoor Track

Walking and jogging indoors, useful during Colorado’s cold, windy or snowy weather.
