Facilities: What Is Inside the Community Center?

Gymnasium & Indoor Sports

Basketball, volleyball, badminton and pickleball are among the listed recreation activities. Court availability depends on scheduled programs and open play.

Fitness Room

A dedicated workout area for eligible residents. Bring suitable exercise clothing and ask staff about current equipment rules and supervision requirements.

Indoor Walking Track

A convenient indoor option for walking and low-impact fitness, particularly useful during colder or rainy New Jersey weather.

Card Room & Table Games

A gathering space associated with cards, chess, checkers and social activities. The center also supports organized table tennis.

Youth Center & Arcade

The youth recreation area includes arcade-style games, air hockey, billiards and television. Youth center activities can operate seasonally.

Arts, Clubs & Theater

The building includes art-related activities, recreation clubs and a 170-seat theater for plays, music, community performances and approved bookings.

The center also houses Borough Recreation & Parks offices, helping visitors arrange programs, inquire about classes and complete registrations without going to a separate municipal recreation building.

Sports, Fitness & Recreation Programs

The Borough publishes a mix of recurring recreation opportunities, seasonal sessions and structured classes. The examples below are based on published program guidance; check the program page for the current session.

October 2026 program planning: Do not rely on a summer registration window for a fall activity. Use the current recreation program page, not an expired PDF or social media announcement, to confirm the next session.

How to Register for Recreation Programs

Fair Lawn uses the Community Pass registration system for eligible recreation programs. Certain activities may also permit or require in-person registration at the Recreation & Parks office.

  1. Choose a program. Find the correct age group, session, program location, fees and registration deadline on the Borough website.
  2. Check eligibility. Determine whether the class requires Fair Lawn residency or has age or grade restrictions.
  3. Open Community Pass. Use the Borough registration portal at register.communitypass.net/fairlawnborough.
  4. Create or sign into an account. Enter your household details as required.
  5. Select the listed activity. Choose the appropriate session and participant, then review all conditions.
  6. Pay if required. Complete the official checkout and retain the confirmation.
  7. Check processing time. Some Borough registration notices mention a 72-hour processing period after payment.
  8. Attend at the correct venue. Some Borough recreation programs take place in schools, the Senior Center or outdoor facilities rather than inside the Community Center.
Registration deadline missed? Call 201-796-6746 rather than assuming late enrollment is possible. Certain summer camps carry late charges and no-refund restrictions that depend on the program.

Youth Center, Arcade & Family Visits

The youth area is intended to give eligible Fair Lawn children a supervised recreation setting. The Borough lists arcade games, billiards, air hockey and similar youth activities.

The official Youth Center page indicates that the 2025–26 youth program season has ended. Do not assume the youth center follows the building’s full daily schedule or that a new seasonal program has already begun.

  • Check the next published Youth Center season and enrollment details.
  • Children below 8th grade must have a parent with them for gymnasium or arcade use under the Borough’s current rule.
  • Bring any required identification or proof of local residence.
  • Ask about supervision arrangements, room rules and age eligibility before dropping off a child.

Parents seeking structured seasonal supervision should review Borough summer camps and after-school alternatives separately; not every recreation activity is a childcare service.

Fair Lawn Community Center Theater

One of the center’s most distinctive amenities is its 170-seat performing arts theater with four additional wheelchair seating positions. It hosts musicals, theatrical productions, concerts, dance and cultural events.

Audience Amenities

Sunlit lobby, coat room, public restrooms, box office and a refreshment window associated with the theater.

Performance Facilities

Sound and lighting control booth, two backstage dressing rooms with bathrooms, scene-building area and exterior delivery access.

Examples on the Borough’s October–December 2026 theater calendar include productions by Old Library Theatre, orchestral performances, The Addams Family, ballet and other community arts programming.

Tickets and admission arrangements depend on the individual presenting organization. A free Fair Lawn resident recreation membership does not automatically include theater tickets.

Room use is subject to approval. Nonprofit rates may require an EIN or nonprofit documentation. The Borough may impose other operational conditions based on event type, staffing and public access.
