How Much Does AICHC Cost?

AICHC serves patients regardless of their ability to pay. It accepts major insurance types, including Medi-Cal and Medicare, and offers discounted essential services through a sliding-fee scale for qualifying patients.

Your situationWhat to expect
Have Medi-CalAsk the clinic to verify eligibility, assigned plan and covered services.
Have MedicareConfirm that the clinic and your particular plan are accepted.
Have private insuranceCheck network status, copays, referrals and deductible requirements.
No health insuranceAsk for sliding-fee screening based on household size and income.
Need a specific free serviceConfirm whether the service is free for your eligibility category before the appointment.

Sliding-Fee Discounts Explained

The clinic’s patient FAQ describes its uninsured sliding-fee program as applying to patients without insurance whose income meets the stated threshold of 200% of federal poverty guidelines. The center’s broader sliding-fee notice says discounts depend on family size and income.

Because income thresholds and program details may change annually, do not rely on an old dollar limit. Ask the clinic to calculate your eligibility using the applicable current guidelines.

Step 1 — Call your preferred clinicSay you want to ask about the sliding-fee discount for uninsured patients.
Step 2 — Explain your household situationBe ready to provide household size and approximate income.
Step 3 — Ask what proof is requiredStaff may request supporting income documents for particular programs.
Step 4 — Request the expected visit chargeAsk whether laboratory work, referrals or medications could create additional costs.
Step 5 — Complete screening at the clinicStaff will explain the applicable discount and registration requirements.

How to Become a New Patient

According to AICHC, new patients can register in person during clinic intake hours. Walk-ins are welcome, but calling ahead is recommended to reduce waiting and confirm the appropriate clinic.

1. Choose the clinic Select Burbank, Eagle Rock or Northridge based on your location and the service you need.
2. Call the clinic Explain whether you are a new patient, the reason for your visit and your insurance situation. Ask about available appointments and intake hours.
3. Prepare your documents Bring the documents listed below, where available and applicable.
4. Visit for registration Complete the clinic’s registration, health history and consent documents. Ask about interpreter assistance if needed.
5. Confirm your appointment and next steps Find out when the provider will see you, whether tests are required and how results or referrals will be communicated.

New-Patient Checklist

  • Photo identification, if available.
  • Current medication list, including doses if known.
  • Medical records from doctors seen during the past three years, if available.
  • Insurance details or an insurance termination letter, if applicable.
  • Income documentation if required for the program or discount.
  • Any specialist or hospital records relevant to the visit.
  • Written questions about your symptoms or ongoing treatment.
No Social Security number required: AICHC’s official FAQ explicitly states that patients do not need a Social Security number to become patients.

The center’s FAQ says nonurgent appointments may be available immediately or may take approximately 2–7 days, depending on scheduling. This is guidance, not a guaranteed waiting time.

AICHC accepts walk-ins, but an advance appointment is preferred. The practice also advertises telehealth visits for primary care, psychiatric care and pediatric care.

After-Hours Medical Help

AICHC publishes an after-hours physician contact service for urgent needs. Patients can call their clinic number and follow the telephone instructions. The center says an on-call provider is available outside regular office hours and that interpretation is available.

For its main office, call 818-843-9900. If asked to leave a message, AICHC states that the on-call service aims to return calls within 30 minutes.

Medical emergency: Call 911 or go to an emergency department for life-threatening symptoms. AICHC’s after-hours service is not a replacement for emergency care and does not process prescription refill messages.

Language Assistance & Patient Support

AICHC describes a multilingual care team and interpretation support. Languages identified on its official website include English, Spanish, Armenian, Russian, Vietnamese and Farsi. Interpretation for additional languages is offered through a telephone language service.

If English is not your preferred language, tell the receptionist which language you need when booking. Ask whether an interpreter will be available for the appointment, instructions and follow-up discussion.

The center also describes Covered California enrollment counseling. Ask if a counselor can help you understand available insurance options, enrollment requirements and application steps.
