Upcoming Renovations: What Visitors Should Know

Boulder’s long-term recreation-center improvement project includes a deep energy retrofit and building upgrades at East Boulder Community Center.

2026

Design work and preparation for Age Well wing renovations are underway. The March 2026 annual maintenance closure has already ended.

2027

Construction is anticipated on the Age Well portion of the building. The center states that it cannot host events during 2027. Recreation operations and room access may be affected as work progresses.

The project covers building infrastructure, energy-efficiency improvements and related facility upgrades. The city has indicated further work on the recreation-center side is in design during 2027.

For regular users: The announced 2027 event-rental restriction does not by itself establish that every pool, gym or fitness service will be closed for the entire year. Use city operational notices for specific temporary closures.
